Song for November Challenge

Activate Dollhouse and Why I Watch plan to release an album of Dollhouse inspired songs on iTunes. We also want to use these songs to help promote the show online.

We are asking for solo artists and bands to create songs which speak about themes in the show or aspects you love.

This event will run during the month of November. The winning person/band will get a phone call directly from Miracle Laurie - November on Dollhouse!

Miracle Laurie

Any profits made on album or singles sales - should it go online in that way - will be donated to charity. I don't want to name the charity until I'm sure they're okay with being named with the project, but it's a good one which deals with matters of human trafficking.

Can't sing/write music/even sing on Rockband properly?

Well, you probably have musical friends who want exposure. And you know the show. So send this on to 'em.

What you get:

- If your track wins a spot on the album, a top quality place on an album to be placed amongst the Dollhouse fans.
- If your track is picked as the title track, a phone call from Dollhouse star Miracle Laurie at a date to be arranged afterwards.

Rules:

- It must be original work. It can be based on unreleased tracks, but they can't be subject to an existing record deal.
- It must be legal. For example, you can't 'sample' show moments into the songs.
- No covers.
- You must be willing to 'sign your rights' away to the song for us to release it online. This is really important. If you're not on board with the idea of doing a charity song, do not submit a song.
- You have until the end of November (30th) to submit your track.
- We ('Activate Dollhouse', 'Why I Watch') will judge the entries. We may also ask unnamed Dollhouse people to help. Our decisions are final. All songs will be streamed online regardless so everybody will hear your work.

How to submit:
- Send an email with the MP3 attached (or a link to download) to kevin.beaumont@gmail.com . We will reply to say we have received it.
- Feel free to let me know you plan to take part via email or the forums so we have some idea of the level of involvement.

How to know if you won:
- We will contact you back via email in advance to let you know.

Need help?
- If you want assistance from people doing this challenge (and/or the organiser) post here.

Inspiration:
Dollhouse is a show about how we use and abuse each other. It's a show about objectifying somebody, and how that is okay and how it isn't. It's a show about the terrible things we end up doing with technology, and the wonderful acts we are capable of. It's a show about love which isn't well placed, it's a show about being fake, and about society molds us whilst we mold society. It also has guns and funny people.

"I challenge you to find another show that overtly discusses the malleability of the soul and is also chock full of witty dialogue and bone-breaking action. The TV world would be a much less interesting place if 'Dollhouse' weren't in it." - Chicago Tribune
